I love Fall!!!

Fall is my favorite time of the year. Excitement is in the air and I love it. I love fall decorations, scents and all the activities.
My first grade team has decided to be toys from Toy Story for Halloween. I have seven people on my team, so when you are the last to pick, everything is almost taken. I had an amazing idea to be Slinky the Dog. I was thinking one of the air vent things from home depot could be the slinky part. I am not even sure if I know what I am talking about, but I do have an image in my head. I also want to recreate the eyes some how. I think I need some creative friends to help me think of how to come up with the costume!! Any ideas??

I found my camera cord!!!

My cord to my camera has been lost forever. I haven't been able to put pictures from my camera onto my computer. Now I can!! I have had pictures of Jeter when we first got him. He was so tiny. He has grown up so fast that I look at these pictures and I forgot how tiny he really was.

Jeter loved laying underneath our T.V. stand. He is way to big to do that anymore!

I also wanted to upload a photo that I love of Tyson. This is of him reading a book to my fourth graders. He is always good about coming and visiting my classroom sometimes. He hasn't yet this year because he is so busy, but he will eventually. It was so funny though because he would mis pronounce words sometimes. He said he did it on purpose because of the reaction he would get from me and my fourth graders, but I'm not sure if I believe that. My fourth graders did think it was pretty funny though! I think he looks so cute reading this book!!

I survived the first week!!

I survived the first week of first grade. I came home exhausted the first day, but it was definitely worth it. My class had fun making our school buses out of zingers and gummy life savers and playing with our magic play dough. We even did our first journal entry on Friday. I was so tired by Friday, but you forget how tired you are when five of them come running up to you with the biggest smiles on their faces.
Grandpa and Grandma Jones donated 30 beanie babies to my classroom. My first graders get so excited to use them. One of their fast finisher things they can do is choose a beanie baby to read to. They love this. They pick a book out of my library, and position the beanie baby on their lap, (they have to make sure the beanie baby can see the book, of course!!) and they read to them. It is so cute to see how they get so excited about books! I was so fortunate to have my grandma and grandpa donate those to my classroom. They came in last year to my fourth graders and brought them all a beanie baby. My fourth graders ended up calling my grandpa, Grandpa Beanie Baby the whole year. They loved my grandparents!

I get to end my perfect day coming home to my dog Jeter. It is sad because he is in his kennel all day. He is the kind of dog that loves being outside, so we try to take him places in the evenings so he can get his energy out. He is definitely a dog that needs lots of attention.

Where did summer go?

I can't believe how fast summer has gone. When I made this blog, I thought I was always going to be on top of it. Life is so crazy though that the time flies. During the summer, Tyson and I have been to vegas twice. Once for the Kenny Chesney concert, and once with Tyson's family. I also went to California with my family for my cousin's wedding. I forgot how much I enjoyed the beach. It was so fun jumping in the waves. While I was in California, Tyson sent me this video of Jeter.

School is starting up soon and I still feel like there is so much to get done for my first grade classroom. It has been fun decorating my classroom and meeting with my team to plan the year. My mom did remind me the other day of something. She said, "remember, they are only first graders. You could have four or five crying all at once the first day!" I didn't experience that last year with my fourth graders. This year will probably be quite an experience. I am so excited though and can't wait to meet my class.
I am always on the internet trying to find ideas for first grade. I came across these cute crayons that you can make for the students to take home and eat. They are just pretzels dipped in chocolate and wrapped in paper. They are so cute.

In all, things are going great and I really want to try to post more often! We'll see how it goes when I start first grade! Wish me luck!

Graduation!

This is a little late, but I decided to post it anyway. I finally graduated on April 30 and it was a good day. I had so much fun seeing everyone in my cohort. It was a little rainy, but turned out to be pretty nice. I came home and Tyson had a huge bouquet of flowers for me. He was so sweet to make it a good day for me. My parents took me out to Mimi's Cafe for breakfast and we had a good time with my grandparents too!

Starting a new blog/Ashlee's Wedding

I finally have time to sit down and do something for myself now that school is over. School ended on May 28th and now I will watch Jeter during the summer and get my room ready for next year. I will be teaching first grade at Hidden Hollow next year. I did fourth grade this year, so it will be quite a change, but I think it will be a good change.
My first year was a good experience and I wouldn't change anything about it. There were students that gave me a hard time, but I actually miss my fourth graders and my team. My team was amazing and they helped me out so much. I am going to miss Ridgeline, but I know that Hidden Hollow will be a great school too!

Ashlee got married on May 26, 2010. Ashlee and Tom looked so happy and it was a great day. The weather cooperated and it
turned out to be a beautiful day. They had their reception at Noah's on 10600. She looked so pretty and I am so happy she found Tom.

Tom was the best dancer. They looked so cute together.
Their cake was so pretty. Cakes by Dawna did her cake and did such a good job

All of Ashlee's pictures at the reception were done by Afton Huntley. Her blog is aftonhuntley.blogspot.com
